RUSSELL — Betty J. Hoyt, 63, Russell, died Monday in Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.
Mrs. Hoyt was a home health care worker, employed by the Community Development Program, Canton.
Born June 7, 1945, in Canton, daughter of Ivan and Grace Blackmere Gollinger, she graduated from Canton Agricultural and Technical College with a degree in hotel/restaurant management.
She married Harold Hoyt Jr. on April 12, 1975.
She was a member of Koinonia Church, Potsdam.
Surviving besides her husband are a son and his wife, Brian and Trista, Canton; a daughter and her husband, Penny and Bradley Griffin, Pierrepont; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, William Robert and Lillian Gollinger, Richard Gollinger, and Rex and Barbara Gollinger, all of Pierrepont; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marion Porter, Gouverneur, Leonora and Earl Laird Sr., Weedsport, Elaine and Benjamin Porter, Pierrepont, and Linda and Henry Trimm, Edwards, four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Donald and Bruce Gollinger, died before her.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Koinonia Church with the Rev. John K. Ault, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Plains Cemetery, Pierrepont. Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam.

EDWARDS — Glenn H. Giffin, 84, Edwards, formerly of Russell, died Wednesday at Clifton-Fine Hospital, Star Lake.
He was a former Clare town justice, St. Lawrence County deputy sheriff and sexton for Pleasant View Cemetery, Clare. He was employed as a housekeeper for United Helpers Canton Nursing Home and as a miner for Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp., Star Lake and Benson Mines.
Born June 30, 1924, in Clare, son of Herbert and Beulah Colton Giffin, he was a 1943 graduate of Knox Memorial High School, Russell.
He married Claudia H. Dashnaw on Aug. 16, 1955, at Rensselaer Falls. She died Nov. 30, 2002.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a guide for the Stillwater Club.
Surviving are two sons, Harold, Housatonic, Mass., and Herbert, Canton; a daughter, Cheryl Tennent, Pennsylvania; a brother, Myron Fry, Russell, nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
There will be no funeral. A reception will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Clare Fire Hall. Private burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at French Funeral Home, Edwards.
